The Padres (51-59) scored fewer runs than the Los Angeles Dodgers (73-40), 4-1, in the third game of four at Dodger Stadium. Cal Quantrill (4-3, 3.57) gave up four runs (two earned) over five innings on six hits and no walks with three strikeouts. Justin Turner hit a solo home run in the fourth inning. In the sixth inning, Will Smith scored on Matt Beaty‘s ground out, Max Muncy‘s single drove in Beaty, and Turner singled to drive in Walker Buehler.

Buehler (10-2, 3.22) threw a complete game, giving up one run on a Manuel Margot pinch-hit home run in the eighth inning. Buehler struck out fifteen and gave up five hits and no walks.
