The Padres (51-58) scored more runs than the Los Angeles Dodgers (72-40), 5-2, in the second game of four at Dodger Stadium. Eric Lauer (6-8, 4.43) allowed two runs on three hits and no walks with six strikeouts over six innings. Cody Bellinger hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning.
Dustin May (0-1, 4.76) gave up four runs (three earned) in five and two-thirds innings on nine hits and no walks with three strikeouts. Eric Hosmer scored on a Francisco Mejia single in the second inning. In the sixth inning, a single by Hosmer drove in Wil Myers and a double by Josh Naylor scored Hosmer & Manny Machado. A Myers single in the seventh inning brought Greg Garcia home.
