The Padres (51-60) scored fewer runs, 11-10, than the Los Angeles Dodgers (74-40) in the finale of their four-game series at Dodger Stadium. Chris Paddack (7-5, 3.19) allowed six runs on six hits and a walk with six strikeouts in four-plus innings. Max Muncy hit a solo home run and Russell Martin hit a two-run home run in the second inning. Muncy scored on Matt Beaty‘s double and Beaty scored on a Kristopher Negrón single in the fourth inning. A.J. Pollock hit a solo home run in the sixth inning. Corey Seager scored on Pollock’s double and Muncy scored on a ground out by Beaty in the eighth inning. Muncy hit a two-run walk-off double in the ninth inning to drive in Alex Verdugo and Seager.
Kenta Maeda (7-8, 4.07) gave up five runs on five hits and a walk while striking out four in two and two-thirds innings. Francisco Mejía scored on Paddack’s single and Eric Hosmer hit a grand slam home run in the third inning. Manuel Margot hit a solo home run in the fourth inning. Fernando Tatís Jr. scored on Manny Machado‘s single and Greg Garcia came home on a ground out by Hosmer in the seventh inning. Mejía scored on a single by Tatís Jr. and Ian Kinsler scored on Garcia’s sacrifice fly in the eighth inning.
