The Padres (11-6) scored fewer runs than the Jingle Bells of Arizona (7-9), 8-4, in the finale of their four-game series at Chase Field. Eric Lauer (2-2, 4.91) surrendered three runs on eight hits and no walk with five strikeouts over five innings. Ketel Marte hit a two-run home run in the third inning. In the fifth inning, Ildemaro Vargas doubled to drive in Greinke. David Peralta hit a pinch-hit three-run home run in the sixth inning. Tim Locastro came home on a balk called on Matt Wisler in the seventh inning. Christian Walker hit a solo home run in the eighth inning.

Zack Greinke (2-1, 5.79) gave up two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out six in seven innings. Manny Margot led off the game with a solo home run in the first inning. Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a solo home run in the fifth inning. Margot hit a double to drive in Greg Garcia and Franmil Reyes’ singled to score Margot in the eighth inning.
