The Padres (10-5) scored more runs, 2-1, than the Jingle Bells of Arizona (6-8) in the second of four games at Chase Field. Chris Paddack (0-0, 1.29) pitched five and a third innings, striking out five while giving up one run on three hits and a walk. David Peralta’s third inning single drove in Jarrod Dyson for the Jingle Bells’ only run. Gerardo Reyes (1-0, 0.00) came in to relieve Paddack in the sixth inning in his Major League debut.
Luke Weaver (0-1, 5.17) pitched seven and a third innings, giving up two runs on five hits and no walks while striking out eight. Manny Machado hit a solo home run in the first inning. Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a double in the seventh inning to drive in Wil Myers.
