Sometimes things can get a little fuzzy after a couple of days of partying with fellow Padres fans in the Gaslamp. The occasional memory refresher can come in handy. Here’s a friendly reminder of what we may have missed while we were drinking.

The Padres (9-5) scored more runs than the Jingle Bells of Arizona (6-7) in the first of four games at Chase Field, 7-6. Pedro Avila (0-0, 1.69) made his Major League debut, pitching five and a third innings while giving up one run on four hits and two walks with five strikeouts. Jarrod Dyson scored on a single by Adam Jones in the first inning. In the seventh inning, David Peralta hit a bases-loaded single off Brad Wieck to drive in Caleb Joseph and Dyson. One out later, Eduardo Escobar hit a three-run home run.
Zack Godley (1-1, 7.41) pitched 6-plus innings, surrendering six runs on six hits and three walks while striking out eight. Franmil Reyes hit a solo home run in the fourth inning. In the sixth inning, Wil Myers scored on a Manny Machado single, Eric Hosmer scored on a Fernando Tatis Jr. sacrifice fly, and Austin Hedges hit a three-run home run. Manuel Margot hit a solo home run in the eighth inning to put the Padres ahead for good.
