The Padres (31-18) defeated the Milwaukee Brewers (24-24) by a score of 7-1 in the second game of their four-game series at American Family Field. Joe Musgrove (4-4, 2.26) allowed one hit and a walk with six strikeouts in four and two-thirds shutout innings. Musgrove did not allow a hit through the first four innings, but was removed after 84 pitches in the fifth inning when he gave up a single, hit a batter, and walked the pitcher. Travis Shaw hit a solo home run in the seventh inning.

Corbin Burnes (2-4, 2.33) was charged with four runs on two hits and three walks with seven strikeouts in six innings. Victor Caratini stole home on as part of a double steal and Ha-Seong Kim scored on a Jurickson Profar single in the third inning. Tommy Pham came home on a Fernando Tatis Jr. sacrifice fly and Eric Hosmer singled to drive in Profar in the sixth inning. Pham hit into a ground ball out to drive in Kim and Brian O’Grady scored on Profar’s double in the seventh inning. Tatis Jr. scored on a Josh Lindblom wild pitch in the eighth inning.
