The Padres (76-70) defeated the San Francisco Giants (95-52) by a score of 7-4 in the finale of their four-game series at Oracle Park. Pierce Johnson (3-3, 2.92) opened the Padres’ bullpen game in place of Chris Paddack with one scoreless inning on one hit, no walks, and two strikeouts. Kris Bryant scored on wild pitch by Austin Adams to Evan Longoria in the sixth inning. LaMonte Wade Jr. hit a ground-rule double that scored Tommy La Stella in the seventh inning. Longoria hit a solo home run in the eighth inning. Wade Jr. scored on a Mark Melancon wild pitch to Thairo Estrada in the ninth inning.
Kevin Gausman (14-6, 2.78) gave up four runs on eight hits and a walk with seven strikeouts over five innings. Adam Frazier scored on a Trent Grisham sacrifice fly in the second inning. Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a solo home run in the third inning. A Tommy Pham double in the fifth inning drove in Jurickson Profar & Frazier. Wil Myers doubled to score Austin Nola and Manny Machado singled to drive in Grisham & Myers in the eighth inning.
