Posey scored in the third inning on a errant pickoff throw to first base by Arrieta. Steven Duggar scored on a Tommy La Stella single in the fourth inning. Darin Ruf doubled to drive in Brandon Crawford in the seventh inning. Brandon Belt‘s double drove in Thairo Estrada and Belt scored when Posey reached on a Manny Machado throwing error in the eighth inning.
Anthony DeSclafani (12-6, 3.24) allowed one run on three hits and a walk with three strikeouts in six and two-thirds innings. Jurickson Profar scored on a Trent Grisham ground out in the third inning.
