The Hangover 2021 – Game 148-150

Sometimes things can get a little fuzzy after an entire year of watching baseball from anywhere other than the ballpark. The occasional memory refresher can come in handy. Here’s a reminder of what we may have missed while most of us were still staying at home.

The Padres (76-71) were defeated by the St Louis Cardinals (77-69) in the first of three games at Busch Stadium by a score of 8-2. Vince Velasquez (3-7, 6.09) allowed four runs on four hits and no walks with four strikeouts in four innings. Tommy Edman scored on a Paul Goldschmidt single and Tyler O’Neill hit a two-run home run in the first inning. Dylan Carlson hit a solo home run in the fourth inning. Carlson hit a grand slam home run in the eighth inning.

Miles Mikolas (1-2, 4.50) pitched five and two-thirds shutout innings, giving up two hits and two walks with three strikeouts. Tommy Pham scored on a Jake Cronenworth sacrifice fly and Jurickson Profar single to drive in Eric Hosmer in the seventh inning.
