Sometimes things can get a little fuzzy after an entire year of watching baseball from anywhere other than the ballpark. The occasional memory refresher can come in handy. Here’s a reminder of what we may have missed while most of us were still staying at home.
The Padres (74-66) were defeated by the Los Angeles dodgers (89-53) in the first of three games at dodger Stadium by a score of 3-0. Joe Musgrove (10-9, 2.93) gave up three runs on four hits and five walks with seven strikeouts in six innings. Max Muncy hit a two-run home run in the third inning. Will Smith scored on a Chris Taylor sacrifice fly in the fourth inning.
Julio Urías (17-3, 2.98) pitched seven shutout innings on three hits and a walk with seven strikeouts. Jake Cronenworth was hit on the hand by a pitch from Urías in the third inning and exited the game in the fourth inning with what was later diagnosed as a fractured left ring finger.
