The Padres (40-32) defeated the Cincinnati Reds (35-33) in the second game of four at Petco Park by a score of 8-2. Chris Paddack (4-5, 4.10) allowed two runs on six hits and a walk with eleven strikeouts in five innings. Kyle Farmer scored on Jesse Winker‘s third inning single. Farmer singled in the fourth inning to drive in Joey Votto.

Tony Santillan (0-1, 4.70) gave up three runs on four hits and a walk with three strikeouts in three innings. Tommy Pham hit a leadoff solo home run in the first inning. Wil Myers hit a solo home run in the second inning. Manny Machado‘s sacrifice fly in the third inning drove in Fernando Tatis Jr. In the fourth inning, Myers hit a solo home run and Jake Cronenworth scored on a Tatis Jr. single. A Cronenworth double in the seventh inning drove in Machado. Pham & Tatis Jr. scored on a double by Trent Grisham in the eighth inning.
