The Padres (46-49) scored more runs than the Miami Marlins (35-58) in the second game of three at Marlins Park, 3-2. Chris Paddack (6-4, 2.70) took a no-hitter into the eighth inning before giving up a leadoff home run to Starlin Castro. Paddack ended up giving up just the one run on the one hit and a walk while striking out eight in seven and two-thirds innings. Castro hit a bloop single in the ninth inning to drive in Miguel Rojas.

Trevor Richards (3-11, 4.24) gave up three runs on eight hits and three walks with five strikeouts in five innings. In the fourth inning, Greg Garcia drove in Manuel Margot with a single and Austin Hedges hit a two-run home run.
