The Padres (7-6) scored fewer runs, 7-6, than the Los Angeles Dodgers in the finale of their three-game series at Petco Park. Garrett Richards (0-1, 4.60) allowed four runs on five hits and a walk while striking out four over five innings. Joc Pederson hit a two-run home run in the second inning. In the fifth inning, Pederson scored on Will Smith‘s single and Smith scored on a double by Kikè Hernandez. Pederson hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning.

Ross Stripling (3-0, 4.00) gave up four runs on six hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in five and two-thirds innings. Fernando Tatís Jr. hit a two-run home run with Jurickson Profar on base in the fifth inning. Wil Myers scored on a double by Greg Garcia and a throwing error by Hernandez in the sixth inning. Myers hit a solo home run in the eighth inning. Tatís Jr. scored on a single by Tommy Pham in the ninth inning.

Luis Patiño made his Major League debut, pitching two innings of relief while giving up three runs on two hits and no walks with two strikeouts. Manager Jayce Tingler was ejected in the seventh inning for arguing balls and strikes.
