The Padres (45-32) defeated the Los Angeles dodgers (44-30) by a score of 5-3 at Petco Park, completing the sweep of their three-game series and winning their seventh straight game. Joe Musgrove (4-6, 2.22) allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks with five strikeouts in six innings. Max Muncy scored on a Will Smith single and Cody Bellinger scored on Matt Beaty‘s ground out in the fourth inning. Justin Turner‘s eighth inning single drove in Muncy.
Trevor Bauer (7-5, 2.57) gave up three runs on five hits and four walks with ten strikeouts in six innings. Jake Cronenworth and Manny Machado hit back-to-back solo home runs in the first inning. Victor Caratini hit a solo home run in the seventh inning. Trent Grisham drew a bases-loaded walk to score Cronenworth and Machado came home on Caratini’s sacrifice fly in the eighth inning.
