The Padres (44-32) defeated the Los Angeles dodgers (44-29) in the second of three games at Petco Park by a score of 3-2. Blake Snell (3-3, 5.29) pitched five shutout innings on four hits and three walks with five strikeouts. Chris Taylor scored when Will Smith ground into a bases-loaded double play in the eighth inning. Austin Barnes hit a solo home run in the ninth inning.

Clayton Kershaw (8-7, 3.43) gave up three runs on four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in six innings. Jake Cronenworth hit a two-run home run with Tommy Pham on base in the first inning. Ha-Seong Kim hit a pinch-hit solo home run in the fifth inning.
