The Padres (34-20) were defeated by a score of 7-4 by the Houston Astros (28-24) in the finale of their three-game series at Minute Maid Park. Blake Snell (1-2, 5.55) gave up seven runs on five hits and three walk with three strikeouts in three innings. Joe Musgrove (4-4, 2.08) came into to pitch the final five innings in relief instead of making his start in Chicago on May 31. Jose Altuve scored on a ground out by Alex Bregman and Kyle Tucker hit a three-run home run in the first inning. In the third inning, Bregman & Carlos Correa scored on a double by Aledmys Diaz and Diaz came in to score on a Taylor Jones single.

Zack Greinke (5-2, 3.67) allowed one run on six hits and a walk with four strikeouts in eight innings. Webster Rivas had his first Major League hit in the fifth inning, a solo home run. In the ninth inning, Wil Myers hit a solo home run and Ha-Seong Kim hit a two-run home run with Eric Hosmer on base.
