The Padres (34-19) defeated the Houston Astros (27-24) by a score of 11-8 in twelve innings in the second game of three at Minute Maid Park. Yu Darvish (5-1, 2.16) gave up five runs (four earned) in five innings on four hits and three walks with five strikeouts. Carlos Correa hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning. In the fifth inning, Myles Straw scored on Chas McCormick‘s sacrifice fly, Alex Bregman doubled in Garrett Stubbs, and Jose Altuve scored when Kyle Tucker reached base on a fielding error by Jake Cronenworth. Taylor Jones scored on a sacrifice bunt by Stubbs in the sixth inning. Tucker scored in the tenth inning on Correa’s double. Straw scored on a passed ball by Victor Caratini on a McCormick walk in the eleventh inning.

Jake Odorizzi (0-2, 6.75) allowed one run on three hits and a walk with four strikeouts in five and a third innings. Caratini scored on a ground out by Fernando Tatis Jr. in the sixth inning. In the eighth inning, an Eric Hosmer single drove in Manny Machado and Cronenworth scored on Wil Myers‘ single. Tatis Jr. hit a three-run home run in the ninth inning with Machado & Cronenworth on base. Jurickson Profar hit into a double play and Hosmer came in to score in the tenth inning. Machado singled to drive in Ha-Seong Kim in the eleventh inning. Myers hit a three-run home run with Cronenworth & Tatis Jr. on base in the twelfth inning.
