The Padres (29-17) defeated the Seattle Mariners (21-25) in the second game of their three-game series at Petco Park by a score of 6-4. Ryan Weathers (2-1, 1.48) allowed one run on six hits and two walks with two strikeouts in four innings. Mitch Haniger hit a solo home run in the third inning. Kyle Seager scored on a sacrifice fly by Jacob Nottingham in the eighth inning. In the ninth inning, Jack Mayfield ground out driving in Tom Murphy and Sam Haggerty scored when Haniger reached on a throwing error by Mark Melancon.

Justus Sheffield (3-4, 5.11) gave up six runs (five earned) on seven hits and five walks with three strikeouts in five innings. Austin Nola scored on a Ha-Seong Kim double in the second inning. In the fifth inning, Jorge Mateo stole third base and scored on a throwing error by Murphy, Eric Hosmer hit a bases-loaded single to drive in Tommy Pham, Jurickson Profar, & Fernando Tatis Jr., and Hosmer — having advanced to third base on the same play on a fielding error by Sheffield — scored on a single by Nola.
