Vince Velasquez (3-8, 6.23) gave up three runs (two earned) on two hits and a walk with two strikeouts in one inning. Kris Bryant hit a bases-loaded double to drive in Tommy La Stella, Brandon Belt, and Buster Posey in the first inning. Posey scored on a Brandon Crawford single and a Mike Yastrzemski single drove in LaMonte Wade Jr. in the sixth inning. A Posey double drove in La Stella and Wade Jr. singled to drive in Belt & Posey in the seventh inning.
Scott Kazmir (0-1, 4.09) allowed one unearned run on four hits and three walks with three strikeouts in four-plus innings. Victor Caratini scored when Jake Cronenworth reached on a bases-loaded catcher’s interference in the fifth inning. Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a solo home run, Manny Machado singled to drive in Cronenworth, and Machado scored on an Eric Hosmer single in the seventh inning. Tommy Pham scored on Adam Frazier‘s ground out and Hosmer scored on a single by Trent Grisham in the ninth inning.
