The Padres (67-55) were defeated 7-3 by the Colorado Rockies (54-66) in the second game of three at Coors Field. Matt Strahm (0-1, 8.10) opened the Padres bullpen game by giving up one run on four hits an no walks in one and a third innings. Connor Joe scored on Charlie Blackmon‘s ground out in the first inning. Germán Márquez singled to drive in Elias Diaz and a Brendan Rodgers double scored Márquez in the fourth inning. Diaz scored on a Márquez double in the sixth inning. Charlie Blackmon hit a two-run home run and C.J. Cron followed that up with a solo home run in the seventh inning.

Márquez (11-9, 3.80) allowed three runs on five hits and a walk with four strikeouts in six and a third innings. Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a solo home run, Jake Cronenworth hit an inside-the-park home run, and Tommy Pham hit a solo home run in the seventh inning.
