Sometimes things can get a little fuzzy after an entire year of watching baseball from anywhere other than the ballpark. The occasional memory refresher can come in handy. Here’s a reminder of what we may have missed while most of us were still staying at home.
The Padres (66-51) were defeated 12-3 in the first of four games at Chase Field by the Arizona Diamondbacks (36-80). Yu Darvish (7-7, 3.70) allowed five runs on six hits and a walk with four strikeouts in two and two-thirds innings before leaving with lower back tightness. Pavin Smith doubled to drive in Caleb Smith & Josh Rojas, P. Smith scored on a Carson Kelly single, and David Peralta hit a two-run home run in the third inning. Rojas scored on a P. Smith single and Kelly doubled to drive in Ketel Marte in the fourth inning. Rojas hit a bases-loaded single in the seventh inning to score Christian Walker & Drew Ellis. Peralta scored on a Josh VanMeter single and Jake Hager drew a bases-loaded walk to score Walker in the eighth inning.
