The Padres (58-43) were defeated by the Miami Marlins (42-57) in the third of four games at loanDepot park by a score of 3-2. Ryan Weathers (4-2, 2.73) threw four shutout innings on two hits and three walks with four strikeouts. Miguel Rojas scored when Jesus Aguilar reached on a throwing error by Manny Machado in the fifth inning. Aguilar hit a bases-loaded single in the seventh inning and was thrown out at second after Magneuris Sierra & Rojas scored.

Braxton Garrett (1-1, 4.37) allowed two runs on four hits and a walk with ten strikeouts over seven innings. Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a solo home run in the first inning. Weathers hit a solo home run (his first Major League home run) in the third inning.

Tommy Pham and associate manager Skip Schumaker were thrown out by the home plate umpire in the eighth inning for arguing balls & strikes.
