Sometimes things can get a little fuzzy after an entire year of watching baseball from anywhere other than the ballpark. The occasional memory refresher can come in handy. Here’s a reminder of what we may have missed while most of us were still staying at home.
The Padres (55-42) were defeated by the Atlanta Braves (46-47) in the first (technically second) game of three at Truist Park by a score of 2-1. Yu Darvish (7-4, 3.09) allowed two runs on four hits and two walks with three strikeouts in five and two-thirds innings. Abraham Almonte scored on a Guillermo Heredia single in the second inning. Freddie Freeman hit a solo home run in the sixth inning.
Touki Toussaint (1-0, 1.35) gave up on run on three hits and two walks while striking out five over six and two-thirds innings. Jake Cronenworth came home on a Tommy Pham sacrifice fly in the fourth inning.
