The Padres (35-23) scored more runs, 6-5, than the San Francisco Giants (29-29) in the second game of the doubleheader and the four-game series at Oracle Park. This game was a rescheduled game from September 12th at Petco Park, so the Padres were the home team.

Dinelson Lamet (3-1, 2.09) gave up two runs (one earned) on one hit and one walk with four strikeouts before leaving after three and two-thirds with an apparent elbow injury. Brandon Belt scored in the second inning on a ground out by Evan Longoria. Wilmer Flores hit into a ground out in the fourth inning and Alex Dickerson came home on a throwing error by Greg Garcia. Flores hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning.

Jeff Samardzija (0-2. 9.72) allowed three runs on three hits and no walks with one strikeout in three innings. Trent Grisham singled to drive in Jason Castro and Fernando Tatis Jr. followed with a two-run home run in the third inning. Grisham hit a walk-off three-run home run with Tommy Pham and Garcia on base in the seventh inning.
