MLB Box Score

The Padres (30-17) scored more runs than the San Francisco Giants (23-23), 6-0, in the second game of their now-three-game series at Petco Park. The four-game series was reduced to three games due to a positive COVID test for Alex Dickerson of the Giants right before Friday’s game, causing two games to be postponed and this game rescheduled as the first game of a doubleheader.

Mike Clevinger (3-2, 3.10) pitched seven shutout innings, giving up two hits and a walk while striking out seven, for a complete game victory.

Johnny Cueto (2-1, 4.78) allowed six runs (four earned) on seven hits and three walks with two strikeouts in five and a third innings. Austin Nola and Jake Cronenworth scored on a single by Greg Garcia in the second inning. Wil Myers hit a bases-loaded single in the third inning to drive in Trent Grisham and Manny Machado. Garcia reached on a fielder’s choice in the sixth inning allowing Nola to score on a throwing error and Jurickson Profar singled to score Cronenworth.
