The Hangover 2020 – Games 40-42

Sometimes things can get a little fuzzy after a couple of days of trying to login to Zoom meetings with fellow Padres fans. The occasional memory refresher can come in handy. Here’s a friendly reminder of what we may have missed while we were stuck in quarantine.

The Padres (24-16) scored more runs than the Oakland Athletics (22-13), 7-0, in the first game of three at Oakland Coliseum. Zach Davies (6-2, 2.23) shutout the A’s over seven innings. on four hits and four walks with five strikeouts. Javy Guerra and Craig Stammen combined to pitch the final two innings of shutout relief.

Jesús Luzardo (2-2, 4.23) allowed four runs on six hits and no walks while striking out four in four and two-thirds innings. In the fifth inning, Trent Grisham doubled to drive in Wil Myers, Luis Campusano & Grisham scored on a Fernando Tatis Jr. double, and a single by Eric Hosmer drove in Tatis Jr. Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado hit back-to-back solo home runs in the seventh inning. Campusano hit a solo home run — his first Major League hit — in the eighth inning.
