Colorado Rockies vs Padres @ Petco Park
September 7-9, 2020
Sometimes things can get a little fuzzy after a couple of days of trying to login to Zoom meetings with fellow Padres fans. The occasional memory refresher can come in handy. Here’s a friendly reminder of what we may have missed while we were stuck in quarantine.
This is The Hangover.
Game 43
Padres 1, Rockies 0
Winning Pitcher: Drew Pomeranz (1-0, 0.00)
Losing Pitcher: Carlos Estévez (1-2, 6.41)
The Padres (26-17) scored more runs, 1-0, than the Colorado Rockies (20-21) in the first of three games at Petco Park. Dinelson Lamet (2-1, 2.24) pitched seven and two-thirds shutout innings, giving up six hits and no walk while striking out eleven. Tim Hill and Drew Pomeranz combined for an inning and a third of scoreless relief.
Kyle Freeland (2-1, 3.60) allowed no runs in six innings, giving up three hits and three walks with six strikeouts. Jurickson Profar hit a ninth inning double to drive in pinch runner Jorge Mateo with the winning run. Mateo was pinch running for Greg Garcia, who was pinch hitting for Jorge Oña, who was called up and made his Major League debut.
Eric Hosmer fractured his left index finger in the first inning on a bunt attempt and is expected to be out for two to six weeks.
