The Padres (27-17) scored more runs than the Colorado Rockies (20-22), 14-5, in the second game of three at Petco Park. Mike Clevinger (2-2, 3.74) allowed four runs on five hits and a walk with eight strikeouts in five innings. Nolan Arenado hit a three-run home run in the first inning. Trevor Story ground into a force out that scored Tony Wolters in the fifth inning. Arenado scored on a single by Matt Kemp in the sixth inning.

Chi Chi González (0-1, 8.68) lasted just a third of an inning, giving up three walks and a strikeout while hitting a batter. Trent Grisham scored when Austin Nola was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Wil Myers hit a grand slam with Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado, & Nola on base in the first inning. Tatis Jr. scored on a Machado double and Nola hit a three-run home run with Machado & Mitch Moreland on base in the second inning. Machado singled to drive in Greg Garcia in the third inning. In the seventh inning, Myers hit a solo home run, Jason Castro scored on a double by Jurickson Profar, and a Grisham sacrifice fly drove in Profar.
