Sometimes things can get a little fuzzy after a couple of days of partying with fellow Padres fans in the Gaslamp. The occasional memory refresher can come in handy. Here’s a friendly reminder of what we may have missed while we were drinking.
The Padres (38-38) scored fewer runs, 2-1, than the Pittsburgh Pirates (34-40) in the first of three games at PNC Park. Eric Lauers (5-7, 4.32) allowed two runs (one earned) in seven innings on five hits and a walk while striking out four. Bryan Reynolds scored on a double by Starling Marte in the first inning. In the seventh inning, Jose Osuna’s single drove in Steven Brault.
Joe Musgrove (5-7, 4.57) gave up one run on five hits and no walks with eight strikeouts in seven innings. Manny Machado hit a solo home run in the fourth inning.
