Sometimes things can get a little fuzzy after a couple of days of partying with fellow Padres fans in the Gaslamp. The occasional memory refresher can come in handy. Here’s a friendly reminder of what we may have missed while we were drinking.
The Padres (33-34) scored fewer runs than the San Francisco Giants (27-38), 6-5, in the first of two games at Oracle Park. Chris Paddack (4-4, 3.15) gave up three runs on six hits and a walk while striking out six in five innings. Pablo Sandoval scored on a Tyler Austin single and Steven Duggar hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning. Evan Longoria’s double drove in Brandon Belt & Joe Panik and Longoria scored on Sandoval’s sacrifice fly in the seventh inning.
Tyler Beede (0-2, 8.06) allowed four runs on five hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in four and two-thirds innings. Fernando Tatis Jr. led off the game with a first-pitch solo home run in the first inning. Tatis Jr.’s single drove in Wil Myers and Eric Hosmer hit a bases-loaded single to drive in Paddack and Tatis Jr. in the fifth inning. Ian Kinsler hit a solo home run in the eighth inning.
