The Padres (14-11) scored more runs than the Seattle Mariners (16-11), 1-0, in the second of two games at Petco Park. Chris Paddack (1-1, 1.67) won his first game as a Major Leaguer by shutting out the Mariners over seven innings on one hit, one walk, and one hit-by-pitch, all of which happened in the first inning.

Felix Hernandez (1-2, 3.91) was nearly as unhittable as Paddack, giving up just one run, Ian Kinsler’s solo home run in the second inning. Hernandez struck out eight with three hits and a walk over seven innings.
