Sometimes things can get a little fuzzy after a couple of days of partying with fellow Padres fans in the Gaslamp. The occasional memory refresher can come in handy. Here’s a friendly reminder of what we may have missed while we were drinking.
The Padres (13-11) scored more runs, 6-3, than the Seattle Mariners (16-10) in the first of two games at Petco Park. Nick Margevicius (2-2, 3.60) pitched five inning, allowing two runs on four hits and five walks with four strikeouts. Tim Beckham’s single drove in Mallex Smith and Mitch Haniger in the fifth inning. Omar Narvaez scored on a sacrifice fly by Domingo Santana in the seventh inning.
Erik Swanson (0-2, 4.61) gave up five runs (four earned) in five and two-thirds innings on seven hits and no walks while striking out three. Eric Hosmer hit a double to drive in Wil Myers and Franmil Reyes hit a two-run home run in the second inning. In the sixth inning, Reyes hit a solo home run and Austin Hedges’ fly ball bounced out of Smith’s glove and over the wall for a two-run home run.
