Trey Wingenter (1-3, 5.05) served as The Opener in a Bullpen Day game, giving up three runs on a hit and two walks with two strikeouts in one and a third innings. Cody Bellinger scored on Corey Seager‘s ground out and a single by Kenta Maeda drove in Chris Taylor & Enrique Hernandez in the second inning. Hernandez singled in the eighth inning to drive in Seager. Hernandez scored when Russell Martin reached on a throwing error and Martin scored on a single by A.J. Pollock in the tenth inning.
Maeda (8-8, 4.11) allowed two runs on two hits and three walks while striking out three over five innings. Greg Garcia scored on Eric Hosmer‘s single and Manny Machado came home on a sacrifice fly by Hunter Renfroe in the first inning. Hosmer hit a solo home run in the eighth inning. Francisco Mejía scored on a wild pitch by Kenley Jansen in the ninth inning.
