Sometimes things can get a little fuzzy after an entire year of watching baseball from anywhere other than the ballpark. The occasional memory refresher can come in handy. Here’s a reminder of what we may have missed while most of us were still staying at home.

The Padres (50-37) were defeated by a score of 7-5 in the first game of four at Petco Park with the Washington Nationals (41-42). Joe Musgrove (5-6, 2.97) gave up five runs on seven hits and a walk with four strikeouts in five innings. Trea Turner hit a solo home run in the first inning. In the second inning, a single by Jon Lester scored Yan Gomes, Victor Robles came home on Alcides Escobar‘s sacrifice bunt, Lester scored on a sacrifice fly by Juan Soto, and a single by Josh Bell drove in Escobar. Bell hit a solo home run in the seventh inning. Escobar’s ground-rule double drove in Robles in the eighth inning.

Lester (2-3, 5.34) allowed five runs (two earned) in three and a third innings on six hits and four walks with two strikeouts. Trent Grisham was hit by a pitch with the bases-loaded to score Jake Cronenworth and Ha-Seong Kim‘s double drove in Manny Machado & Wil Myers in the third inning. Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a solo home run and Cronenworth scored on a Myers double in the fourth inning.
