The Padres (49-33) defeated the Cincinnati Reds (39-40) in the second game of three at Great American Ballpark by a score of 7-5 in a rain-shorted six innings. Joe Musgrove (5-6, 2.63) allowed five runs on four hits and three walks with three strikeouts over four innings. Nick Castellanos hit a three-run home run and Joey Votto scored on Kyle Farmer‘s sacrifice fly in the first inning. Votto hit a solo home run in the third inning.
Vladimir Gutierrez (3-3, 4.93) gave up six runs on six hits and three walks while striking out three in four and a third innings. Trent Grisham and Wil Myers each hit solo home runs in the second inning. Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a solo home run in the third inning. Grisham hit a grand slam home run with Tommy Pham, Tatis Jr., & Manny Machado on base in the fourth inning.
