The Padres (47-33) defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks (22-57) by a score of 5-4 in the finale of their three-game series at Petco Park. Yu Darvish (7-2, 2.44) allowed one run on six hits and a walk with seven strikeouts over six innings. Pavin Smith scored on a Darvish wild pitch in the fourth inning. Daulton Varsho & Nick Ahmed scored when Eduardo Escobar ground into a fielder’s choice & a throwing error by Fernando Tatis Jr. and Josh Rojas came home on an Asdrubal Cabrera sacrifice fly in the seventh inning.

Zac Gallen (1-3, 3.69) gave up two runs on six hits and three walks with three strikeouts in four and two-thirds innings. Tommy Pham led off with a solo home run and Jake Cronenworth singled to drive in Trent Grisham in the first inning. A double by Grisham drove in Jurickson Profar, Cronenworth singled to drive in Pham, and a double by Tatis Jr. scored Grisham in the seventh inning.
