The Padres (46-33) were defeated by a score of 10-1 in the second game of three with Arizona Diamondbacks (22-56) at Petco Park. Dinelson Lamet (2-3, 3.67) gave up four runs on six hits and no walks with one strikeout before leaving after two and a third innings with “fatigue in the forearm area.” Eduardo Escobar doubled to drive in Josh Reddick in the first inning. Christian Walker hit a solo home run in the second inning. Escobar hit a two-run home run in the third inning. Walker scored on a Stephen Vogt ground out and Vogt scored on Josh Rojas‘ single in the fourth inning. Reddick drove in Vogt with a single and Merrill Kelly scored on a single by Escobar in the sixth inning. Vogt scored on a Rojas single and an Escobar ground out drove in Nick Ahmed in the eighth inning.

Kelly (4-7, 4.73) pitched six shutout innings on five hits and no walks while striking out five. Webster Rivas scored on a Tommy Pham single in the ninth inning.
