The Padres (36-23) defeated the New York Mets (27-23) in the second game of four at Petco Park by a score of 2-0. Blake Snell (2-2, 4.83) threw seven shutout innings while only allowing one hit and a walk with ten strikeouts. The Mets’ only hit came in the seventh inning when Francisco Lindor singled.
Joey Lucchesi (1-4, 5.79) allowed one run on four hits and no walks with three strikeouts in four and two-thirds innings. Manny Machado hit a solo home run in the first inning. Machado drew a bases-loaded walk in the seventh inning to bring Jurickson Profar home.
