The Padres (35-23) defeated the New York Mets (27-22) by a score of 4-3 in the first of four games at Petco Park. Yu Darvish (6-1, 2.25) allowed two runs on four hits and a walk with five strikeouts over five and a third innings. James McCann hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning. Billy McKinney‘s eighth inning triple drove in Francisco Lindor.
Taijuan Walker (4-2, 2.17) gave up four runs (three earned) on seven hits and four walks while striking out two in five innings. Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a two-run home run with Manny Machado on base in the third inning. Jurickson Profar singled in the fourth inning to drive in Victor Caratini. Tatis Jr. came home on a wild pitch by Walker in the fifth inning.
