The Padres (78-80) were defeated by the Los Angeles dodgers in the second game of three at dodger Stadium by a score of 11-9. Ryan Weathers (4-7, 5.32) allowed five runs on five hits and three walks with two strikeouts in three innings. Corey Seager scored on a single by Trea Turner, Max Muncy singled to drive in Turner, and A.J. Pollock hit a two-run home run in the first inning. Seager’s second inning double drove in Mookie Betts. Betts hit a solo home run in the seventh inning. Muncy, Pollock, & Cody Bellinger each hit solo home runs and Seager hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning.

Max Scherzer (15-4, 2.46) gave up six runs (five earned) on eleven hits and no walks while striking out four in five and a third innings. Victor Caratini hit a solo home run in the second inning. Manny Machado hit a two-run home run with Adam Frazier on base in the third inning. Caratini scored on a Frazier ground-rule double and Wil Myers scored when Jake Cronenworth reached on a error in the fourth inning. Myers tripled in the sixth inning to drive in Caratini. Machado scored on a Tommy Pham double and Eric Hosmer & Pham scored on a Trent Grisham single in the seventh inning.
