The Padres (73-64) defeated the Houston Astros (79-57) by a score of 4-3 in the finale of their three-game series at Petco Park. Chris Paddack (7-6, 4.95) gave up three runs on six hits with no strikeouts or walks in six-plus innings. Alex Bregman singled to drive in Jose Altuve in the first inning. Yuli Gurriel & Carlos Correa hit back-to-back solo home runs in the seventh inning.

Luis Garcia (10-6, 3.29) allowed three runs on six hits and a walk with five strikeouts in five and two-thirds innings. Trent Grisham scored on a Wil Myers sacrifice fly and Eric Hosmer doubled to drive in Manny Machado & Jake Cronenworth in the first inning. Cronenworth hit a walk-off solo home run in the ninth inning.
