The Padres (72-64) defeated the Houston Astros (79-56) by a score of 10-2 in the second of three games at Petco Park. Joe Musgrove (10-8, 2.87) allowed two run on seven hits and a walk with four strikeouts in five and a third innings. Yuli Gurriel‘s first inning single brought in Alex Bregman to score. Kyle Tucker hit a solo home run to leadoff the second inning.

Framber Valdez (9-5, 3.08) gave up four runs on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts in six-plus innings. In the second inning, a single by Austin Nola drove in Wil Myers, Adam Frazier & Nola scored on a Fernando Tatis Jr. single, and Jurickson Profar scored on a balk. Manny Machado hit a two-run home run with Tatis Jr. on base and Myers hit a two-run home run with Jake Cronenworth on base in the seventh inning. Tatis Jr. hit a two-run home run with Nola on base in the eighth inning.
