The Padres (69-62) were defeated by a score of 10-2 in the finale of their two-game series at Angel Stadium by the Los Angeles Angels (64-67). Ryan Weathers (4-7, 5.40) allowed three runs on four hits and no walks with a strikeout in three innings. Jared Walsh hit a solo home run in the second inning. Jack Mayfield hit a two-run home run in the third inning. Walsh doubled to drive in Jo Adell and Walsh scored on a Kurt Suzuki sacrifice fly in the fourth inning. Adell doubled to drive in Shohei Ohtani and Justin Upton‘s sacrifice fly scored Phil Gosselin in the fifth inning. Gosselin hit a bases-loaded single to score Mayfield & David Fletcher and Ohtani scored on a Walsh single in the sixth inning.

José Suarez (5-7, 4.10) gave up two runs on four hits and three walks with two strikeouts in three and two-thirds innings. Tommy Pham scored on an Eric Hosmer single and Hosmer came home on an Austin Nola single in the fourth inning.

Trent Grisham was ejected in the eighth inning by home plate umpire Vic Carapazza for arguing balls & strikes.
