The Padres (68-58) were defeated by the Philadelphia Phillies in the final game of three at Petco Park by a score of 7-4. Craig Stammen (5-3, 3.07) pitched two shutout innings opening a Padres bullpen game, giving up two hits and two walks with a strikeout. Rhys Hoskins hit a solo home run and Odubel Herrera singled to drive in Ronald Torreyes & Travis Jankowski in the fourth inning. Hoskins hit another solo home run in the fifth inning. Herrera hit a solo home run and J.T. Realmuto hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning.
Kyle Gibson (9-5, 3.06) allowed one run on six hits and a walk with three strikeouts in eight innings. Trent Grisham scored on a Manny Machado sacrifice fly in the first inning. Austin Nola‘s bases-loaded double scored Jake Cronenworth, Eric Hosmer, and Victor Caratini in the ninth inning.
