The Padres (63-49) defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks (35-77) by a score of 6-2 in the second of three games at Petco Park. Yu Darvish (7-6, 3.43) allowed two run on four hits and no walks while striking out twelve in seven innings. Christian Walker hit a two-run home run in the second inning.
Taylor Widener (1-1, 4.89) gave up two runs on four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in five innings. Manny Machado hit a solo home run in the first inning. Eric Hosmer hit a solo home run in the second inning. Machado drove in Adam Frazier with a single, Trent Grisham drew a bases-loaded walk to score Machado, and Austin Nola‘s pinch-hit single drove in Jake Cronenworth & Wil Myers in the eighth inning.
