The Padres (49-36) were defeated by a score of 4-2 by the Philadelphia Phillies (39-41) in the second of three games at Citizens Bank Park. Yu Darvish (7-3, 2.65) gave up four runs on six hits and a walk with eight strikeouts in six innings. Bryce Harper and Rhys Hoskins hit back-to-back solo home runs in the second inning. J.T. Realmuto scored on a Harper sacrifice fly and a Hoskins double drove in Andrew McCutchen in the sixth inning.

Zach Eflin (3-6, 4.13) allowed two run on three hits and two walks with two strikeouts in six innings. Manny Machado hit a two-run home run in the first inning with Fernando Tatis Jr. on base.

The start of the game was delayed by two hours and again for forty-six minutes in the bottom of the fourth inning because of rain.
