The Padres (6-3) defeated the Texas Rangers (3-5) by a score of 7-4 in the second game of three at Globe Life Field. Chris Paddack (0-1, 5.63) allowed three run on four hits and a walk with three strikeouts in four innings. Jonah Heim scored on Eli White‘s triple and White & Anderson Tejeda came home on a double by Isiah Kiner-Falefa in the second inning. Kiner-Falefa hit a solo home run in the fifth inning.
Jordan Lyles (1-0, 4,50) gave up three runs (two earned) over four and a third innings on six hits and two walk with one strikeout. Eric Hosmer led off the fourth inning with a solo home run and Wil Myers scored on a sacrifice fly by Tommy Pham. Ha-Seong Kim hit a solo home run — his first Major League home run — in the fifth inning. In the seventh inning, Trent Grisham hit a two-run home run with Kim on base and Manny Machado hit a double to drive in Jurickson Profar. Kim reached on a fielding error by Nate Lowe allowing Jake Cronenworth to score in the eighth inning.
Notable: Ryan Weathers (1-0, 1.50) got his first Major League win and Machado was ejected after striking out on a called third strike to end the eighth inning.
