The Padres (38-32) were defeated 8-7 by the Colorado Rockies (28-41) to complete a sweep of their three-game series at Coors Field. Blake Snell (2-3, 5.72) gave up seven runs in three and a third innings on nine hits and two walks with one strikeout. Trevor Story doubled to drive in Raimel Tapia and C.J. Cron hit a two-run home run in the first inning. Story scored on a third inning single by Brendan Rodgers. In the fourth inning, Elias Díaz hit a solo home run, Tapia scored on a Yonathan Daza single, and Daza came home on a Story double. Story scored the winning run in the ninth inning on a Charlie Blackmon single.
Kyle Freeland (0-2, 9.58) allowed five runs on nine hits and two walks with three strikeouts in three and two-thirds innings. Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a solo home run and Trent Grisham hit a two-run home run with Manny Machado on base in the third inning. Tatis Jr. doubled in Tommy Pham and scored on a Machado double in the fourth inning. Jake Cronenworth hit a solo home run in the sixth inning. Pham scored on Grisham’s sacrifice fly in the ninth inning.
