The Padres (37-26) were defeated by a score of 7-1 in the second of three games at Petco Park by the Chicago Cubs (34-27). Dinelson Lamet (1-1, 3.52) gave up four runs on four hits and a walk with six strikeouts in five innings. Wilson Contreras hit a solo home run in the fourth inning. In the sixth inning, an Anthony Rizzo double drove in Joc Pederson & Kris Bryant and Patrick Wisdom hit a two-run home run. Rizzo hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning.

Zach Davies (3-3, 4.45) threw six shutout innings, giving up one hit and two walks with four strikeouts. Ha-Seong Kim doubled in the ninth inning to drive in Tommy Pham for the Padre lone run.
